INBOX [un: jupitersgrace]text / audio / video / actionHey, this is Jason Grace. If I'm not fighting for my life I'll get back to you soon.art creditcode credit
As a hypothetical let's presume that the person telling you is me, someone you don't know. And these instructions are coming while you're in the woods with no idea where you're going. And the instructions themselves include things like- go on without us, or don't attack that.
[How is it he deals with gods, nymphs, monsters, Titans, and everything else under the mythological sun and THIS is the thing that gives him pause. Seriously. Who IS this person and what ARE they questions?]
Hypothetical.
Right.
These things are usually NOT hypothetical and I'm sensing an ulterior motive.
[But what? What's the angle here? Why is he being asked this? Was anyone else being asked this? There was no one around to confirm, so he sends a second reply.]
Also, you didn't define the scale. What's the 1 and what's the 10?
And let's say: 1 = I am an anarchist who doesn't believe in rules, directions, laws, or consequences 10 = I am very good at it and don't think for myself
[Though that answer could change based on other factors -- moving along that scale he'd just been given. He wasn't a 100% rule follower, as his time at Camp Jupiter showed, but he also couldn't exactly bring himself to say "screw all the rules" because of the same thing. He did what he needed to do and usually it was for the benefit of the group, not an individual and certainly not himself.]
[He knew this wasn't hypothetical. Gods above. Okay, so he has a stranger on the other end of the tablet, asking him to join him in the woods. Jason figures he KNOWS most of the arrivals to Beacon, but at the same time only as much as one can know a group of complete strangers in a month -- some of whom only joined a few days ago. He's also pretty sure he's powerful enough to handle most of the problems, but he also doesn't feel like he should say 'yes' so readily to a rather ominous offer of meeting someone in the woods.]
I'm pretty sure this is what all those PSAs on television were warning me about.
Are you going to offer me candy or a puppy next?
[He's joking...mostly.]
honestly I've been shouting about this whole mess of a thread
[Or is he? Because damn it if Jason isn't getting MORE curious about what this is all about. Could he go into the woods and try to track this guy WITHOUT creepy, weird directions? It was unlikely. Even with the aerial advantage on his side.]
You're seriously not going to give me anything else to go on here?
[Jason closes his eyes, remembering the last time someone had questioned his trust. Nico holding the poisoned chalice out to him, You asked me about trust, and taking a risk? Well, here you go, son of Jupiter. How much do you trust me? This was a little different, mostly in the fact that it was't Nico. There was only one person though that he could think of around here that reminded him that much of Nico...someone who pushed others away and yet watched them from the shadow's edge.
Was it the same person?
He opens his eyes, sitting up on the small bed and making his decision. No more jokes, no more games. If this IS some kind of weird threat or trap he'll deal with it head on.
He hadn't run from a prophecy that predicted his very death, he wasn't about to start running from weirdos on the network.]
What do you want me to do first? Starting point isn't a roof is it?
[It was a long shot, but hey there was really only one person he'd met so far that had reminded him so strongly of Nico]
[Bruce doesn't always trust his decisions. He know he can be too reckless with his own safety, that he makes leaps without always considering the counsel of others. He knows that emotions sometimes good his judgement and that his instincts aren't always good.
But this, this moment of recognition, reassures him where little else would.
[He was right? He was right. Jason feels himself smile a little. So the guy from the shadows had sought him out again after all. That certainly changes things a bit. Still, it seems that this part of the "Test" or whatever this was, was over.]

Just as a hypothetical.

A six I guess?

Really not helping your case.

I suppose so. For both of us.
[And then, just when it seems that he has nothing else to say-]
I find it difficult to trust other people.

On the opposite end, Bruce smiles.]
No. We'll meet on the ground this time.
I'll be in touch.

Sounds like a plan.
