Will you be ready to teach combat training next week?

( He's been impressed with what he's seen of Jason so far, so the decision to make him an instructor is a fairly easy one. He handled himself well during the town hall meeting, and setting up the game of capture the flag. It's earned Javert's respect. )

Would this be for the non-weapons combat? I wasn't sure if we had anything available to us for anything more than that.

We will begin on the second of the month, the day after the ferry arrives. I have already spoken to Monsieur Rastus about procuring us some swords, and there are knives at the general store. Do you have any interest in teaching armed combat, or would you only prefer to only teach unarmed?

( He did say at the meeting that he was proficient in weaponry. He didn't mention swords specifically, so Javert just has to ask to make certain. )

We will meet at the gymnasium. Though I have taken Monsieur Kol's suggestion under advisement, and will take our training out of doors on occasion.

We'll have swords soon? [There's relief mixed with a bit of excitement. It would probably be nowhere NEAR as nice as the imperial gold sword he had lost, but it was something.] I can teach either, though I'd definitely be more comfortable teaching others how to use a sword since I had to do that a lot back home with my cohort.

[Before he'd been promoted to praetor anyway. Then his job had become too big to regularly act as a sword or spear trainer, still he'd had enough experience with it that it would be easy to fall back into.]

Whatever you need me to do, I'm willing to.

Mostly the camp. Can't avoid that it's named for my father.

Depends on who is telling me and what they are telling me to do. I'm not just going to blindly follow orders, but I understand basic directions.

[How does he put that in a scaled number? Actually that's probably further evidence of him NOT doing what he's told. He'll just shake his head and hit send.]

As a hypothetical let's presume that the person telling you is me, someone you don't know. And these instructions are coming while you're in the woods with no idea where you're going. And the instructions themselves include things like- go on without us, or don't attack that.

I feel like if anyone should be asking that it should be me. Holy shit those things were not messing around. I've never seen anything rip through a hull that fast.

I think after the past few weeks I've had I'm definitely taking it easy for the rest of the month or two. I only have so many more body parts that can get chewed on at this point.

Seriously though, what about you?

[ the spirits aren't even bothering to be stealthy with this one.

very familiar bird spirits like to tag along with jason during the day, eagerly trailing behind him as he goes about on his patrols or hangs out at either the invincible or the bonfire. jason may want to watch his step at times, too, since the spirits have a habit of suddenly sprinting forward to surrounding him. all the while excitedly peeping and hooting to get his attention and notice.

the only time day makes himself known is when he needs to help jason intervene if the spirits get into a tussle with one another, the energetic birds trying to assert dominance in who will be the one who helps jason out in whatever task he's doing.

(or, in a very memorable occasion, try to give him the ice cream that was being offered by the vendor that day. even day looked a little overwhelmed as he picked up one bird spirit to keep them from wrassling with their fellow spirit. there's something hilariously surreal in a ten feet tall mechanoid looking scared as he braces himself against the angry pecking and hooting of a tiny, tiny bird.)

if ever asked about what's going on with the spirits, day gives a nervous grin and shrug, making a vague comment about how they must want to impress him. they really seem to like jason! maybe they're trying to impress him or something? food for thought as the spirits continue their ridiculous tagging along, only leaving jason be if he makes it very clear he needs his space or is going to retire for some rest. ]

[ Jason gets a box with some tape shaped and drawn over to look like the crest of House El at his doorstep. Upon opening it, he'll find sugar cookies shaped like lightning bolts.

The card on the box reads:

[ When Jason comes back to his room at the end of the day, there's a small paper packet addressed to Jason hanging from his doorknob, tied with some festive pink and red ribbon, the ends curled with a pair of scissors. It has three heart shaped chocolates tucked inside, each with its own filling. The packaging reads, "Happy Valentine's Day! From, Sora."

No other explanation than that. Enjoy your chocolates, Jason! Sora loves you! ]
